Sydney's Battle of the books was today. The competition was fierce. I was so amazed at how well they all did. Syd was a bit disappointed at her team's performance until we pointed out that they were 10th of the 12 teams at the regional final, but that also means that they were 10th of the 300 something teams that participated over all. Then we has banana splits. It is all good now.

So how did the battle work? Did they just have to answer a bunch of questions? Did they have a list of books to study from?
there were 12 books that the kids all read and then at the battle there were two rounds of questions. Round 1 all the questions were "In which book did... happen" and the teams get 5 points for the title and 3 points for knowing the author. In round 2 the questions were " In the book ... what was ...". Some of the questions were really hard like the name of the mother of the main character, the brand of bike the character was riding or the year the story takes place, and some were easier. It was fun to see. Syd is still not sure if she will do it again because instead of reading lots of books second semester she just read the same 12 over and over.
